King Size vs Mini Cones Which Sells Better in 2026?

King Size vs Mini Cones: Which Sells Better and Why (2026 Guide)

If you’ve spent any time browsing pre rolled cones online or stocking shelves for a smoke shop, you’ve probably asked the same question every smoker, retailer, and brand is asking in 2026: king size or mini cones — which one actually sells better? The honest answer is both are winning, just with different customers and for different reasons. Understanding why can help you pick the right format whether you’re buying for yourself or building out a wholesale order.

The Short Answer

King size cones dominate in social settings, gifting, and bulk value, while mini cones (also called dogwalkers) are the fastest-growing size in the entire pre-roll category. Industry data shows mini and dogwalker-format cones are projected to grow at roughly 14% CAGR over the next several years, outpacing nearly every other format. Meanwhile, 109mm king size cones remain the single most recognizable and best-selling size overall, largely because they hit the sweet spot between capacity and convenience. So the real answer isn’t “one beats the other” — it’s that they win in different lanes.

Why King Size Cones Still Sell the Most

King size 109mm cones have been the industry standard for a reason. They hold more material, they’re easier to grip and roll evenly, and they’re the go-to option for social smoking, sharing, and gifting. A lot of first-time buyers also default to king size simply because it’s the format they already recognize from traditional rolling papers. At Leaf Palms, our King Size 109mm Pre Rolled Cones collection — including options like our Chamomile King Size Pre Rolled Cones and White Organic King Size Cones — consistently performs well with customers who want a fuller session or are buying for group use. If you’re shopping for value, this size also tends to offer the best price-per-gram when purchased in bulk Cones.

Why Mini Cones Are the Fastest-Growing Segment

Mini cones, sometimes called dogwalkers, are built for speed, discretion, and portability. They typically run in the 70mm to 84mm range and are designed for a quick, personal session rather than a shared one. This format has exploded in popularity for a few specific reasons: Smokers increasingly want controlled dosing instead of committing to a full session every time they light up. A mini cone solves that without leftovers or waste. They’re also more discreet — smaller smoke clouds, faster sessions, and easier to carry without drawing attention. And because they’re smaller, they’re naturally more affordable per unit, which makes them an easy trial size for anyone experimenting with a new brand, flavor, or material for the first time. Our 84mm and 98mm size categories reflect this shift, giving smokers a lighter, faster option without sacrificing the natural, slow-burning quality Leaf Palms is known for.

Which Size Sells Better for Retailers and Wholesale Buyers

If you’re stocking a smoke shop or building a wholesale order, the smartest move isn’t choosing one size — it’s carrying both. Retail data across the smoking accessories market consistently shows that shoppers browse by occasion, not just brand. Someone buying for a party or a group hangout reaches for king size. Someone grabbing something for a solo evening reaches for mini. Carrying a spread of sizes also supports impulse purchases and repeat buys, since customers often experiment with formats before settling on a favorite. For wholesale partners, a good starting mix typically includes a strong core of 109mm king size cones for volume sales, paired with a smaller but growing allocation of 84mm and 98mm options to capture the mini/dogwalker trend. Branding and packaging also matter more than ever here — nearly 60% of pre-roll producers still sell unbranded product, which means a well-branded, well-packaged cone lineup stands out fast on a crowded shelf.

How Size Affects Flavor and Burn

Size isn’t just about how much material fits inside — it also changes the smoking experience. Larger cones like our king size 109mm options burn longer and deliver a fuller flavor arc, since there’s more surface area for the palm leaf, rose petal, or fruit-infused material to release its natural aromatics over time. Mini cones burn faster and hit flavor more immediately, which is part of why they pair so well with bold profiles like Mango wraps, Blueberry, or Bubblegum wraps — you get the flavor payoff right away instead of waiting for it to build. If you’re unsure which to try first, our guide on how to fill pre-rolled cones is a good next stop, since packing technique changes slightly depending on the size you’re working with.

So, Which One Should You Choose?

If you want a fuller session, better value in bulk, and a format built for sharing, go king size. If you want speed, discretion, portability, and an easy way to sample new flavors or materials without commitment, mini cones are the better call. Most experienced smokers end up keeping both on hand — king size for weekends and gatherings, mini for everyday use. Whichever size fits your session, you can shop the full Leaf Palms collection to compare king size, 98mm, and 84mm options across all our natural palm leaf, rose, fruit, and lotus lines.

FAQs

What size is a king size cone?

King size cones are typically 109mm, making them the largest standard pre-rolled cone size. They hold more material than mini or 84mm cones and are the most common choice for group or social smoking sessions. Browse the full 109mm collection here.

What is a mini cone or dogwalker cone?

A mini cone, often called a dogwalker, is a small pre-rolled cone usually between 70mm and 84mm. It’s designed for a quick, personal session and is popular for its portability, discretion, and controlled dosing.

Do mini cones or king size cones sell better?

It depends on the buyer. King size cones remain the best-selling format overall because of their value and familiarity, but mini cones are currently the fastest-growing size segment, especially among smokers who want smaller, more frequent sessions instead of one large one.

Which cone size is better for beginners?

Mini or 84mm cones are usually a better starting point for beginners since they’re easier to manage, more affordable, and let new smokers sample flavors or materials without a big commitment.

Do king size and mini cones burn differently?

Yes. King size cones burn longer with a fuller flavor arc since there’s more material to release aromatics gradually. Mini cones burn faster and deliver flavor more immediately, which works well with bold profiles.

Which size should retailers stock?

Most successful retailers and wholesale buyers carry both. A strong base of 109mm king size cones for volume sales, paired with a growing allocation of 84mm and 98mm cones, covers both social and solo-use customers. Visit our wholesale page to build a mixed-size order.
